Nokia is now all set to make a comeback on the smartphone market with android operating system. According to Nokia, the first two models will be announced at Mobile World Congress, Barcelona in February 2017. We can expect a release shortly after the announcement. Nokia has already made it’s brand licensing deal with HMD Global. The new reports indicate that we can expect at least 5 new Nokia android smartphones in 2017.
HMD Global will announce Nokia D1c as the first android smartphone at MWC in Barcelona. There will be two models, a flagship device, and another mid-ranger headset. Both models will be powered by Android 7.0 Nougat. The mid-range model of Nokia D1C is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 600 series chipset.
The mid-ranger model will be a standard model which will come in Black and White color options. It is expected to have 5 inches Full HD screen, 2GB RAM and 13 MP rear camera. The second variant is a Premium one in gold color and has an all-metal unibody design. It is expected to have 5.5 Full HD screen, 3 GB RAM and 16 MP rear camera. Rest specifications remain the same for both.
The high-end flagship device will also have fingerprint scanner but the mid-range device will not have fingerprint lock.
According to Digitimes, HMD Global is developing 4 more Nokia android smartphones for launch in second – third quarter of 2017.
The four new models will have display sizes ranging from 5.0-5.7-inch at WQHD or Full HD resolutions, said the sources, adding that panel suppliers will include LG Display, Century Technology (CTC) and Innolux and that FIH Mobile will serve as the production partner.
